What we do
Six services, one van, everything finished on site
The gear travels with us — key cutting, programming, lock stock. No second trip, no tow, no shopfront to drive to.

Car key replacement
Lost every key to the car? We cut and program a new one at the roadside for most makes and models — no tow, no dealership wait.

What actually happens when you ring
No booking form, no call centre, no ticket number. Four steps from your phone to a working key.
- You ring 0468 770 558
Tell us the car or the lock, and where you are. It rings the mobile, not a switchboard.
- You get a price and a window
A real range for your job and an honest arrival time based on where the van actually is.
- The van comes to you
Roadside, driveway, front door, shopfront. Cutting and programming gear travels with it.
- Finished on the spot
Key cut and coded, lock opened, cylinder rekeyed. Card or cash, tax invoice emailed.
The standard
Three things you get on every job
A number before we start
You get a price range on the phone and a firm figure at the door — before any tool comes out of the van. What you agree to is what you pay.
Non-destructive first
Picking, bypassing and proper opening tools come out before anything else. Drilling is a last resort on locks that genuinely leave no other option, and you’ll know first.
Insured and accountable
Public liability insured and ABN 73 112 836 867. A tax invoice lands in your inbox, so there is a paper trail for landlords, insurers and the accountant.

Why mobile
Why people call a mobile locksmith instead of the dealership
If you’ve lost every key to your car, the dealership route usually means towing the vehicle in, waiting on an ordered key, and paying for both. A mobile automotive locksmith cuts and programs the key where the car is sitting. For most makes and models that’s the same day, and it doesn’t involve a tow truck.
The same logic applies to a lockout. A locksmith who carries picks and proper opening tools gets a door open without touching the frame. That’s the difference between a call-out fee and a new door.

High security
When you need to know exactly who holds a key
An ordinary key is a piece of metal anyone can duplicate in four minutes for a few dollars, with no record and no permission. For most front doors that is fine. For a business with staff turnover, a share house, or a rental portfolio, it is a real hole.
A Mul-T-Lock restricted system closes it. The blanks are patented and supplied only to authorised locksmiths, and cutting one requires your written authority — so the list of people who can open your door is a list you actually control.
Locked out, or need a key cut right now?
One call goes straight to the mobile — no call centre, no queue. You speak to the locksmith who turns up.
Questions
The things people ask first
How fast can you get to me?
It depends where you are and what else is on, but the van covers Melbourne’s inner south-east and most jobs in that area are same-day. Ring the number and you’ll get a straight answer on timing before anyone commits to anything.
Do you actually work at 3am?
Yes. Lockouts don’t keep business hours. Call-outs after midnight cost more than a Tuesday morning — you’ll be told the figure on the phone, not after.
What will it cost?
It depends on the job, the lock and the hour. What doesn’t happen is a quote on the phone and a bigger number at the door. Ask when you call and you’ll get a real range.
Do you come to me, or do I come to you?
We come to you. It’s a fully mobile service — the van carries the key machines, programming gear and lock stock. There’s no shopfront to drive to and no tow needed for car keys.
Can you get in without wrecking the door?
Almost always. Non-destructive entry is the default and drilling is a last resort on locks that leave no other option. If a lock does have to be replaced you’ll know before any tool touches it.
Are you licensed and insured?
Great Southern Lock is an ABN-registered business (73 112 836 867) and carries public liability insurance. A tax invoice is issued for every job. You’ll also be asked for proof you have a right to the property — a locksmith who doesn’t ask is one to worry about.
Which suburbs do you cover?
Mainly the inner south-east — St Kilda, Elwood, Brighton, Caulfield, Prahran, South Yarra, Toorak, Port and South Melbourne and the CBD. The full list is on the service areas page. If you’re just outside it, ring anyway.
